I am no professional on swans. I somewhat believe a night-time predator filched the eggs. I have heard people today state that their birds( chickens, geese, whatever) clear away infertile or nonviable eggs from their nest. In 40 many years I have not experienced a fowl take away their own individual egg/s with the nest other than unintentionally.
